Dave McGuire
Biography
Dave McGuire is a professional solo guitarist and highly sought after
sideman. His style has developed over many years of composing,
recording and performing.
“No one plays guitar like Dave”
– Steve Newcomb
Using an electric or acoustic guitar, a fender amp and a boss loop
station, Dave can create anything from introspective folk to sonic
soundscapes to funky “one man jams”. Repertoire can range from
classic jazz standards like “Summertime” through to covers of Jimi
Hendrix, Sting or Bob Marley. When it comes to electric or acoustic
guitar, his tone, touch and technique are second to none and he draws
on a variety of rich musical influences including jazz, folk, pop,
blues, reggae and soul.
After graduating from the Queensland Conservatorium in 2004, Dave has
played and recorded with several local artists including Melissa
Forbes, Alison St Ledger, Sarah Collyer and Alesa Lajana.
Most recently Dave was resident guitarist at the Queensland Performing
Arts Centre’s Lobby Bar – a gig which allowed him to explore his solo
guitar project. He also returned from a successful tour of regional
Queensland with the highly regarded “Tom Waits for No Man” and “A-Z of
Cabaret” shows.
