Biography

 

Cultural Dancing:

Lucas started his performing career, as a teen, in an Indigenous Cultural Dance Troupe, The Minjungbal Dancers. Minjungbal is a clan from the Tweed Coast of NSW and is part of the Bundjalung nation, which covers the Gold coast region. Lucas performed throughout high school, at local, national and international events, including 3 tours to Asia, and Brazil. He has also performed at several Gold coast international tourist destinations, as a Cultural Performer.

 

Surfing:

Lucas was sponsored from 2000-2004 with OXBOW International, an French apparel company, and competed for 5 years on the World Longboard Tour, with a career high rating of 9th in the world, also winning various “Expression Session’s” at Oxbow World Title events in J-Bay, South Africa and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Domestically, Lucas won various titles, including a NSW State Title and also a National Indigenous title. Lucas still performs various photo shoots and maintains a close relationship with the surf industry mixing both music and surfing.

 

Music:

Lucas’ professional band, “Max Judo” has for the past 8 years developed as a performing act, from local shows, in pubs and clubs on the Northern NSW coast, to international touring, including Japan 2005, and 4 highly successful USA tours, from 2007, through to 2009. Other international touring destinations include Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, Spain, France, Portugal, Hawaii & South Africa.

Recent highlights have included headline spots at The US OPEN at Huntington Beach CA, NOOSA SURF FESTIVAL 09, KIRRA SURF STOCK FESTIVAL 09 and a successful east coast OZ tour with Tom Curren. Also, the 4 US-college based tours have enabled Lucas to form

key industry contacts, both in Australia, and internationally.
